Primary Care 2.0: Surgical Care in the Developing World

In collaboration with Dr. Jaymie and Mr. Orion Henry, Dr. Thomas & Mrs. Karen Mauro, The Kenya Ministry of Health, the College of Surgeons of East Central and Southern Africa, Smile Train, Operation Smile, Orbis and the G4 Alliance, the weekend Lab focused on Surgery in the Developing World.  The weekend discussions centered around a revolutionary strategy: a modest but highly-targeted investment of resources into health systems in the developing world. Beginning with a partnership with the Kenya Ministry of Health, the plan is to prototype a solution to the crippling prevalence of impairments that can be fixed with low-cost and scalable interventions.  We showcased an entirely novel, affordable model of disease eradication and leave health systems in the developing world in a stronger state than ever before.
